Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break!

We are already working hard and we have a number of projects on the go. I should let you know that I am know teaching Math to the grade 6s and 7s. Also, the FSA test is this month for the grade 7s and more information will be coming home about this next week. Should you have any concerns please feel free to email me or contact me at the school.

Homework:

1. Students are working on 15 spelling words. We are working on words with Greek and Latin roots. This week we are looking at the root "form."

2. Students are creating a Venn diagram and list for a compare/contrast paragraph. This is due tomorrow and the final product will be finished this Friday.

3. In Math, students should be working on their multiplication table but the class will be working on Percents. 

4. Students are working on a school community project called "Intermediate Games" and an individual book project where we are working on autobiographical writing.

5. Home reading is starting this week and I should see students reading. Their first response is due next Wednesday.


Up-Coming Events:

1. Skiing - we are looking for parent drivers on Jan 13th and Jan 19th!!!

2. Pro-D is Jan 22

3. Sunny Brae forms will be coming home this week as well.

In-terms came home today, please sign the bottom and have your child return it to school on Thursday. Students gave their first mini-presentation today. They worked in pairs to learn about various wars Canada participated in and created a slide presentation that explained their findings. Homework: Home Reading Spelling Current Events Work Collected Recently Bullying paragraph Spelling/Vocabulary activities Biderbicks Don't Cry Greek Map Remembrance Day Slide Presentation Math Unit Test Students who are missing work or are struggling to be successful will be asked to attend the Homework room at lunch until they are successful. I am also available during recess and lunch throughout the week.

January 4

Homework: 1. Home Reading: 20 -30 minutes per night for the rest of the week. Please have your parents initial the agenda. 2. Math - Percent test is January 12th. Other: 1. We ski next Wednesday and the following Tuesday and we are still looking for drivers.

October 5

Homework: 1. Vocabulary Quiz on "Corp" words tomorrow. 2. Literature Booklet #3 is due tomorrow. 3. Math Test Tuesday for the grade 7s. 4. Math for 6s is to finish the first page of their booklet. 5. Socials - Ancient Rome questions Other: 1. No school Monday - It's a holiday. 2. Volleyball Tier 1 Girls need to get their permission form in.
